Floor Levelling Compounds

Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller

Description

Polymer Modified, Flexible, Single Part Floor Levelling & Smoothing Compound

Levelling Compound Uses

Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller is a blend of specially graded fillers, fine cements and polymers. Specially developed as a premium smoothing and levelling compound for internal floors with irregular substrates, prior to the application of floor tiles or decorative surface flooring. Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller has a set time of approximately 3 hours and can be laid from 1mm to 50mm. The floor levelling compound is suitable for use on all common building substrates including concrete, sand /cement screeds; floor grading asphalt, and correctly prepared tiles.

Ultra Floor Levelling Compound Features Levelling compound over floor heating

  • Ideal for use on floors with electric underfloor heating
  • A one-part floor levelling compound to be mixed with clean tap water
  • Good adhesion to clean floor surfaces
  • Rapid setting and early strength
  • Good flow. Self-smoothing
  • Easy and quick to apply.

Preparation of Sub-floor

The floor surface being adhered to must be clean, firm, dry, free of dust, dirt, oil and grease or any other contaminating barriers, remove flaking or peeling layers. The substrate must be strong enough to support the weight of the adhesive and floor tiles being fixed. To ensure consistent drying rates and reduce water penetration, porous floor surfaces should be primed using a suitable primer such as Cemprime AR. This will help to prevent water penetration, increase bond strength and reduce the possibility of adhesive failure. Cemprime AR should be diluted one part Cemprime AR to three parts water and applied with a roller, brush or spray. Allow the liquid to become translucent and barely dry before applying Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller.

Floor Surface Considerations

  • Cement/sand screeds/anhydrite screeds and concrete floor surfaces: must be fully cured and free from laitance, surface hardeners etc.
  • Existing unglazed ceramic tiles, quarry tiles, terrazzo and natural stone floor tiles should be firmly bonded and all hollow and defective tiles must be cut out and replaced.
  • Asphalt: must be in sound condition and have adequate cohesive strength, and there is no requirement to prime. Use only flooring/paving grades, roofing grades are not suitable.
  • Old ceramic adhesive residues: Remove as much adhesive as possible, and any remaining residues should be well bonded, and there is no requirement to prime.
  • Uneven Timber Floors (soft floor coverings only): Ensure that the sheets and boards are dry, securely fixed and rigid and that adequate ventilation is provided to the void underneath the suspended timber floors. Level the floor and allow to dry for at least 3 hours. Screw down a 15mm WBP or Exterior grade of plywood complying with BS 6566 to the levelled base.

Ultra Floor Levelling Compound Mixing

The mixed floor levelling compound should be poured directly onto the primed substrate and lightly trowelled to the required thickness with a solid bed trowel to achieve a smooth surface texture. At 5mm bed thickness one mixed bag of concrete floor leveller will be required per 3m2 (1.6kg x m2 x mm). Mix until a lump-free and smooth consistency is achieved.

  • Ensure the floor levelling compound is applied within 30 minutes after mixing at 20°C.
  • Any excess levelling compound left after this time should be discarded.
  • Smaller mixes may be required in warm weather.
  • Avoid adding any further water to the levelling compound once mixed.

Ultra Floor Levelling Compound Application Levelling with a steel trowel

  • Prime floor surface if required.
  • Pour the floor levelling compound over the floor to be levelled and spread evenly using a steel trowel.
  • Trowel out the floor leveller to the required depth to achieve a smooth surface.
  • Using firm even pressure, work floor leveller well into the corners and around projections.
  • If any trowel marks remain they should be rubbed down before the floor levelling compound has fully set.
  • Light foot traffic, may be allowed after three to four hours, dependant on the thickness of application and site conditions.
  • Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C

Curing

Prevent draughts across the floor to avoid any localised premature drying. Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller may receive light foot trafficking after a minimum period of least 3 hours, dependant upon the thickness of application and environmental conditions.

We would recommend a set time of approximately 12 hours at 5mm, rising to a minimum of 7 days for the maximum depth of 50mm. These set times are dependant upon temperature and substrate and are based on laboratory tests conducted at 20°c.

Mix thoroughly using a stirrer or a drill mixer set to a slow speed (do not exceed 300 r.p.m).

Ultra Floor Levelling Compound Coverage

Coverage is dependant on the nature and flatness of the surface and the thickness of the application. At 3mm thickness Ultra Concrete Floor Leveller will cover approximately 5m² and at 5mm thickness approximately 3m².

Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller

Ultra Flexible Floor Levelling Compound: Features Levelling compound over floor heating

A polymer modified two part levelling and smoothing compound for irregular substrates. Provides a smooth surface and levels prior to applying floor coverings

  • Ideal for use on floors with electric under floor heating
  • Flexural capacity.
  • Can be laid to depths of up to 12mm.
  • Open time 20 - 30 minutes.*
  • Set time 3 hours.*
  • Depending on temperature and substrate

Recommended Applications

The traditional ‘bag & bottle’ levelling compound is ideal for use on wooden floors where the surface demands a product with slight flexural capacity.

Information

Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller is a specifically developed two part flexible smoothing compound, ideal for use on wooden floors where the surface demands a product with a slight flexural capacity. Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller can be used on all common substrates, such as concrete/sand cement screeds, floor grading asphalt, flexible substrates like wooden floors, is ideal for use on floors with under floor heating and correctly prepared tiles to 5mm on its own or by using a suitable aggregate. The product has enhanced quality and can be laid to depths of 12mm with added aggregates. (Please note: if aggregate is added to Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller, this will no longer be suitable to use with wooden floors, as this will reduce the flexibility of the product).

Surface Preparation

Ensure that the surface substrate being adhered to is clean, dry & firm. The surface should be free of dust, dirt, oil and grease or any other contaminates. Remove any flaking or peeling layers. If Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller is to be used on wood, it should only be used as a coating of up to 5mm to smooth boards before overlaying tiles.

Mixing Application

Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller powder should be added slowly to its latex polymer. It should not be used with any other mixture, or diluted with water. The latex should be shaken and poured into a clean container, then the powder added slowly whilst stirring continuously. If part mixing is required the ratio is 3 - 3.5 parts powder to 1 part latex by volume.

Note: Floor graded asphalt should not be given more than one single coat, and aggregate should not be used in these applications (i.e. not more than 5mm bed thickness).

Ultra Flexible Floor Levelling Compound Application Levelling with a steel trowel

The mixed material should be poured directly onto the primed substrate and lightly trowelled to the required thickness with a solid bed trowel to achieve a smooth surface texture. At 5mm bed thickness one mixed bag of Ultra Flexible Floor Leveller will be required per 3m2 (1.6kg x m2 x mm) We would recommend a set time of approximately 24 hours @ 5mm rising to a minimum of 3 days for the full depth of 12mm. These set times are dependant upon temperature and substrate and are based on laboratory tests conducted at 20°C.

Cleaning

Tools should be thoroughly cleaned in water to remove excess materials immediately after use.

Health and Safety
